Wedding Photography — Mark & Ashley, Blunsdon House Hotel

Blunsdon House Hotel on a Saturday in September. A white lace gown with long sheer sleeves. A light grey suit. Bridesmaids in emerald forest green. A flower girl with a wooden ring box.

The Victorian bandstand at Blunsdon House has been used for wedding portraits in exactly this way for a very long time. It earned that use. The cream lattice, the formal garden, the scale that allows fifty people to fit within a single frame without anyone appearing incidental.

The pre-ceremony sequence covered the hotel corridor: the bride in her gown, the wedding party assembled, the specific quality of warmth between people who have been getting ready together all morning and are about to do something that matters.

The white wooden lattice gazebo on the brick terrace was the session’s primary portrait location. The full-length frames with the couple framed by the arch, the three-person configurations with family members, the seated sequences on the floral-patterned bench — all of them resolving into the frames that end up on walls.

The Victorian bandstand at Blunsdon House accommodated the full group comfortably: approximately sixty people, the bride and groom at the centre, the cream lattice providing the frame that made the scale manageable and the image readable.
